ATAS Workshop The Murphy's LEAP to Teacher Program offers a free 6- week exam preparation workshop for CUNY students who have over 40 credits interested in obtaining the NY State Teaching Assistant Certification and becoming a Teacher Assistant/ Teaching Paraprofessional to provide direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a certified teacher. The workshop prepares students for taking the New York State Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills test (NYS-ATAS). Online registration does not guarantee enrollment. All applicants will be notified of their status as the date draws near. |

Best Practices for Academic Success & Boosting Your Grades This workshop will allow students to learn the best strategies for academic success and elevate their GPA. Our advisors/coordinators will review the following topics: understanding the importance of your grade point average (GPA), the benefits of life/work balance, P/T aid for NYS available, seeking support & finding community, resources, counseling on campus and stress management tip, tutoring within the majors and more! |

Child Abuse Trainings Under the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies, The Murphy Institute' s LEAP to Teacher Program is an approved Child Abuse Training Provider . After satisfying the requirements, students will receive their Child Abuse certification on their TEACH account. These training are open to LEAP to Teacher and CUNY students enrolled in the current semester. Priority will be given to LEAP to teacher students in the order of submission. |

Classroom Management- Improving positive behavior in the classroom Explore how to create a supportive classroom environment through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This workshop offers practical guidance on designing your space for positive behavior, understanding the social-emotional roots of challenging behaviors, and teaching seven essential social skills. Participants will learn how to establish clear rules and consequences, guide children through daily transitions, and build meaningful relationships in the classroom. Strategies for supporting children during meltdowns will also be covered. This session is ideal for early childhood educators seeking to promote positive behavior through evidence-based, developmentally appropriate approaches. 2.5 CTLE credits will be provided upon attending and passing the exam. |

DASA Trainings Under the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies, The Murphy Institute' s LEAP to Teacher Program is an approved DASA Training Workshop Provider . The 6 hour training will address the training for harassment, bullying, and discrimination prevention and intervention in schools. After satisfying the requirements, students will receive their DASA certification on their TEACH account |

EAS Workshops The EAS exam preparation workshop focuses on the skills needed to effectively teach diverse populations.The workshop covers the following topics:Techniques to approach various multiple choice questions, constructing an effective constructed written response and test-taking strategies. |

Lesson Planning This 90-minute workshop will support educators in strengthening their lesson planning by aligning objectives with standards, using engaging strategies, and ensuring meaningful assessment through student engagement during the lesson. We will also discuss how AI can be a helpful tool for brainstorming and preparation. Participants will complete a pre and post assessment which will highlight their growth while earning 1.5 hours in their Continuing Teacher and Leader Education Credits (CTLE). |

Mathematics for Early Childhood and Elementary Educators The Mathematics for Early Childhood and Elementary Educators Course certificate program is a free course that focuses on how to efficiently teach Pre-K and elementary mathematics. Running consecutively on Saturdays, students learn the importance of becoming an effective problem solver, how to identify common math misconceptions, as well as how to prepare for the CST exam. Embedded tutoring is also provided. |

Multi-Subject CST Workshops (7-12th grade) Our Multi-Subject CST Exam Preparation Workshops for Secondary Teachers (Grades 7–12) provide support for students pursuing Generalist certification, including those enrolled in Special Education 7–12 programs. These workshops cover all three parts of the Multi-Subject CST: Literacy and English Language Arts (Part 1 – 241), Mathematics (Part 2 – 244), and Arts & Sciences (Part 3 – 245). Participants will gain a clear understanding of test formats and question types, review key competencies across subject areas, engage in sample questions and problem-solving practice, and learn effective test-taking strategies designed to boost confidence for the exam. |

Multi-Subject CST Workshops (Early Childhood & Childhood) The MS CST exam preparation workshop focuses on the strategies required to be successful in the multi subject specialty test for grades K- 6th. This workshop will cover the overall exam format for Literacy and English Language Arts (Multiple choice and constructed written response), Arts and Sciences and Mathematics. |

Special Education Essentials: A Comprehensive Review and Refresher Series This virtual refresher course comprises a six-week series of workshops that delve into the required NYS competencies for certified teachers working with students with disabilities. The sessions will thoroughly cover topics such as the foundations of Special Education, the 13 classifications of students with IEPs, utilizing assessments to guide instructional planning, and implementing research-based strategies to ensure student success across various placements.
